Effect
Of Temperature on the Emergence of Sponge Creatures
(Neo
Sci Lab)
·
You
will be using “Vernier” temperature sensors for this activity.
·
Set: # of samples
20; Time between samples: 30 seconds
·
Make sure you stop the program when the sponge emerges. Record
temp and time in seconds!
Problem:
Does different water temperature effect the rate at which ”sponge
creatures emerge?
Hypothesis:
Qualitative Observations:

Analysis:
1.Which sample was took the longest to
emerge?
2.What relationship can you explain in
terms of sample temperature and the rate of emergence?
3. Why was it important to make sure that
the temperature remained constant throughout the investigation?
4. How long do you think it would take
for the creature to emerge in boiling water? Ice water?
5. Identify the “ Manipulating” and
“Responding” variables in this lab. Explain.
