The Administration of Oral Medication in the Schools

The administration of oral medication should be avoided, if possible,
and is forbidden by the Board of Education, Except under the following circumstances:

1.  The medication must be prescribed by the student's family physician.
2.  The family physician shall certify in writing that the student may attend school with safety to himself
and to all with whom he may come in contact with in school.
3.  The parents or guardian of the student shall, in writing, release all Board personnel and the board from any and all liability
arising from the administration of, faulty administration of, or failure to administer the medication.

The Administration of Medication by Injection in the Schools

The administration of injected medication should be avoided, if possible,
and is forbidden by the Board of Education, except under the following circumstances:

1.  Medication by injection may be given only in an extreme Medical Emergency as per physician orders.
For example:  Anaphylactic shock due to bee or insect sting.
